Business Computing is a degree designed to help you progress your career. In addition to studying an array of Information Technologies (electronic office programming, databases, and multimedia) you will also study essential areas of business like management and marketing, accounting, finance and economics. This will give you the ability and understanding to analyse and design computers that meet business’s needs.
You will study core aspects of computing, such as data analysis and software development. But, you will also gain critical knowledge of business areas such as consulting, management, and IT operations, as well as how digital technology is changing businesses. You will also develop broader skills employers look for in IT professionals such as teamwork, leadership and management.
We have strong connections to industry. You will work on live briefs and be given the chance to do a year of placement. You will learn how a modern business uses IT and be able to create your own solutions to real-world issues.
Many who complete this course go on to jobs that require a mixture of both business and IT skills, like a project manager or software developer. Others choose to work in a business-user-oriented sector, such as banks and insurance companies, or use their IT and professional skills to start their own business. Some opt to work in the grey area between business and IT, in positions such as IT security officer or consultant.
